Gear Up: CamelBak Kids’ Mini M.U.L.E. Hydration Pack

What is it?

Whether you are biking, hiking, rowing or climbing, CamelBak has excelled in offering products for hands-free performance — specifically, products that offer you quick and easy access to hydration during all of your outdoor adventures.

What sets it apart?

CamelBak designed a unique hydration system using a water bladder securely attached within a backpack and a patented drinking tube with a bite valve placed along the shoulder strap. The bite valve is positioned close to your mouth so that you can slightly turn your head for a drink. Or, if you prefer to pull it closer, you can easily do so with only one hand.

How do I use it?

Each CamelBak signature M.U.L.E. hydration pack has specific design features and a varying amount of water that can be carried. The Mini M.U.L.E. for kids carries 1.5 liters of water. They are available in a bunch of fun colors and patterns. Once you have one for your child, have them try it on and adjust the straps as needed for a comfortable fit. Prior to adventuring outside, you will want to fill the water bladder located in the back of the pack. Then have your kids practice drinking from the bite valve if that is new to them. Additionally, there is extra storage space for packing snacks, a packable jacket or other gear you may need while spending time outdoors.

Adventurtunity Family’s insight:

In our family, we’re all avid hikers, and now that our son is a bit older (now 5 years old), we are able to tackle longer hikes ranging from 6 to 7 miles with him hiking on his own. With that, we do find we take more frequent water breaks and need to carry more water and snacks than before. We usually hike with two backpacks filled with water, snacks, layered clothing, camera gear and a few other items, like bear spray and sunscreen. In order for us to carry additional water, we found the CamelBak Kids’ Mini M.U.L.E. for our son. It’s the perfect size for him, as well as being lightweight and breathable while hiking. The best part is that he can now drink directly from his pack without even stopping. If we stop, it’s a much quicker break without having to take off our packs, unzip them and pull out the water bottles. Our son is a huge fan of his CamelBak and feels like a legit hiker now. We have been so impressed with how the CamelBak hydration system works that we are now looking into them for us, too!
