Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Clement moved to Virginia and worked in law enforcement. Growing up around the city, she never imagined herself embracing an outdoor lifestyle. That changed when her husband suggested they go camping one weekend.
Like many first-time campers, Clement had her reservations about spending the night in the woods. But after their first trip, something clicked.

Soon, one camping trip wasn’t enough. She wanted to go every weekend. The couple eventually purchased a travel trailer, and Clement began diving deeper into everything the outdoors had to offer.
Today, she splits her time between her home near Richmond and a river home, where fishing, crabbing, boating and other outdoor adventures have become a regular part of her life.
More importantly, Clement has made it her mission to bring others along for the ride.
Becoming The Rivah Sistah
Through her social media presence as @rivahsistah, Clement shares her outdoor experiences with an audience that can watch her learn, experiment and develop new skills along the way.
Rather than presenting herself as someone who has always known how to fish, crab or navigate life outdoors, Clement embraces the learning process. That approach makes the outdoors feel more accessible to people who may be interested in fishing but aren’t sure where to begin.
Her adventures now go beyond her own time on the water. Clement organizes outdoor experiences and hosts seminars and clinics designed to teach others how to target different species of fish.
She is also a strong believer in the catch-and-cook experience.
Catching the fish is only the beginning. Through her social channels, Clement shows followers how to turn their catch into a meal, sharing everything from fishing and crabbing adventures to cooking what she brings home.
Her philosophy is simple: The river can be a place to slow down, learn something new, catch dinner and have fun doing it.

Creating a place for everyone outdoors
While Clement’s content is intended for everyone, her presence carries additional significance in a space where women — and particularly women of color — have historically been underrepresented.
Clement hopes her adventures can encourage people who haven’t traditionally seen themselves represented in fishing and outdoor recreation to give it a try.
Her goal isn’t simply to build an audience. She wants to build experiences.

Clement hopes to continue expanding The Rivah Sistah through group outings and classes where participants can experience camping, fishing, crabbing and oyster harvesting while also learning how to prepare and cook what they catch.
It all comes back to introducing more people to a lifestyle Clement once never imagined for herself.
And if you’re planning to scroll through her latest catches and meals, Clement offers one warning of her own:
“Please follow and check out my socials @rivahsistah. Don’t watch while hungry or unmotivated ⚠️”
