Gear Review: Bajío Darien Temples of Change Sunglasses

WHAT IS IT?

Bajío Darien Temples of Change Sunglasses

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Finding a good pair of fishing sunglasses is about more than just protecting your eyes from the sun. You want something comfortable, dependable and capable of helping you see what’s happening beneath the water’s surface. Bajío’s Darien frames check those boxes, but this limited-edition design brings something even more meaningful to the table.

As part of Bajío’s Temples of Change collection, the Darien frames feature a Crystal Graphite Gloss finish with FisheWear’s original Enchanted Grayling artwork printed directly onto the temples. The collaboration brings together Bajío, the women-owned apparel and design brand FisheWear, and Casting for Recovery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women affected by breast cancer.

For every pair sold, Bajío donates $20 to Casting for Recovery to help fund free fly-fishing retreats for women in breast cancer treatment and recovery. These retreats give women the opportunity to connect with others who understand their experiences while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of time on the water.

The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to empower women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer through oncology-informed retreats. These retreats connect women to each other and to nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing—and are offered at no cost to participants.

Beyond the beautiful design and meaningful mission, the Darien is built for serious fishing. The medium-sized frames feature wide temples for additional sun protection, a full-wrap design for coverage and nonslip rubber grips to help keep them securely in place.

The sunglasses also feature Bajío’s patent-pending polarized LAPIS lens technology, which blocks 100% of UV light while filtering harsh yellow and blue light. The result is reduced glare, improved clarity and better visibility when searching for fish beneath the surface.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Whether I’m running across the lake, fishing shallow cover or spending hours looking for bass, a dependable pair of polarized sunglasses is one of the most important pieces of gear I can have in the boat.

The Darien frames are designed to make those long days on the water more comfortable. The polarized lenses help cut through surface glare, making it easier to identify underwater structure, spot fish and see what’s happening below the surface.

I especially appreciate the idea of having a full-wrap frame with wider temples. When you’re spending an entire day under the sun, having that additional coverage can make a noticeable difference. The nonslip rubber grips are another practical feature, especially when you’re constantly looking down, moving around the boat or making repeated casts.

And while these sunglasses are built with anglers in mind, the Enchanted Grayling artwork gives them a unique look that works just as well away from the water.

HOW MUCH?

$219 for polycarbonate lenses or $269 for glass lenses.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT

I’ve always loved finding fishing gear that combines functionality with a little personality, and these Darien frames immediately caught my attention. The Enchanted Grayling pattern adds such a beautiful, feminine touch without being overly flashy, and I love that Bajío incorporated the artwork into a frame that’s designed for serious anglers. As a woman who loves fishing, I appreciate seeing more brands create products that reflect our personalities without sacrificing performance.

But what really makes these sunglasses special to me is the story behind them. Knowing that $20 from every pair sold goes toward helping women affected by breast cancer experience the joy of fishing makes them so much more meaningful. I think there’s something incredibly special about women supporting other women through a sport we all love. To me, these aren’t just another pair of fishing sunglasses. They’re a way to look good, feel good and support a cause that truly matters.
