A mobile angler’s take on the StrikeMaster Maven 40V

I have a gear recommendation for all my fellow northern gals who get out ice fishing.

StrikeMaster recently launched their new Maven 40V Electric Ice Auger. I got my hands on one this season and am absolutely loving it. Here’s why:

One of my favorite fish to target on the ice is crappie, and if you want to catch them, you have to chase them. A mobile fisherman’s gear should be just as mobile as they are. That’s why I’ve always been a 24V ice auger gal myself. They’re lightweight, which is fantastic, but you do sacrifice power. For long days drilling through thick ice, that’s not always ideal.

Introduce Maven. Weighing in at only 14.5 lbs., it’s the lightest and most powerful auger in its class. Now I don’t have to sacrifice weight or power, because it packs both. I can drill 125 holes on one battery charge. Drilling more than that? No worries, it comes with two lithium batteries. Its advanced planetary gear system and brushless motor rip through holes effortlessly and fast. Its ergonomic soft-touch grips and impact-resistant handles allow me to do all of this in control and comfort.

Other features that have stood out to me are the built-in bubble level, which ensures every hole is drilled vertically, and the built-in LED light for fishing in low-light conditions. Not to mention the limited-edition 13Fishing reel included free.

I have truly loved hitting the ice with my Maven this winter and know you would too.
