Gear Review: Titan Deep Freeze

What is it?

The Titan Deep Freeze high performance roto cooler

What sets it apart?

The Titan features uni-body rotationally molded construction and a premium blend of thick polyurethane insulation that maximizes ice retention for up to eight days. It also features a 360-degree rubber gasket along with heavy-duty T-latches that are corrosion resistant. In combination, they provide a tight seal to keep the cold inside. Plus, it’s certified bear resistant by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee, meaning even a hungry grizz can’t crack it.

How do I use it?

There are multiple variables that can affect the time at which food or beverages can retain its initial packing temperature such as ambient air temperature, the temperature of the contents at the time of packing, the volume of contents packed and the amount and/or type of ice or ice substitutes used.

The Titan coolers may be used with or without ice, however, ice, an ice pack or ice substitute will extend the amount of time that food stays cold. If the precise temperature of the contents is critical, use a thermometer to measure temperatures close to the items.

The fuller your cooler is with food, the longer the contents will retain their temperature. In performance tests, coolers that were fully packed produced optimal results.

The coolers are available in a 20-quart and 55-quart models, and two attractive colors: Blue and gray.

How much?

55-Quart: $245

20-Quart: $150

Angler’s insight:

Todays’ super coolers have taken food and ice management to a whole new level, and Titan has exceeded that demand by creating a tool for the hunter or angler that will maintain ice for up to eight days. That’s just impressive. I really like how easily the drain plug can be removed, even with cold fingers — plus it drains very quickly thanks to its size. It’s durable, attractive and serves the outdoor enthusiast perfectly at a price that won’t break the bank.
