Gear Review: Huk Waypoint Pants

WHAT IS IT?

Huk Waypoint Pants

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Huk created the company’s softest and lightest fabric yet, and not using high-tech fabric composites and materials. The pants are made from recycled plastic bottles that are cleaned, crushed, melted and stretched into fibers woven into yarns. That results in a durable fabric that also features a 50+ UPF rating. Another plus is the pants are treated with Teflon Fabric Protector that resists soiling, stains and spills, while facilitating easier and quicker cleanup. Available in five colors: Sargasso Sea, iron, bone, braid and grey. Sizes: 28-42.

HOW DO I USE IT?

The pants are indeed lightweight and make an ideal substitute when you need more sun protection than what is offered by shorts. You get plenty of storage options with two front pockets, dual-zippered back pockets and a plier’s pocket.

HOW MUCH?

$75

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

What I like the most is the minimalist design of the Waypoint Pants. They aren’t overloaded with cargo-pant style pockets that, when filled, add unneeded weight and bulk. You get just the right balance between style and functionality. Wear these pants to the office, the golf course, date night, and of course, on the boat. I immediately noticed the lighter-weight feel when putting them on for the first time. They have just the right amount of stretch, offer stain resistance and sun protection. You get a lot of style, value and functionality out of the same pair of pants.
