Gear Review: Greenfish Tackle Bryan New Bad Little Dude

WHAT IS IT?

Greenfish Tackle Bryan New Bad Little Dude jig

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Designed by Bassmaster Elite Series pro Bryan New, the Greenfish Tackle Bad Little Dude is a unique jig that serves a unique purpose. Typically, when a new jig is released, it’s all about having the heaviest hook, the strongest weed guard and fishing the heaviest cover. The Bad Little Dude (BLD) is not that type of jig at all. Built around a modified Arkie-style head, the BLD was designed to be the ultimate finesse jig.

HOW DO I USE IT?

When it comes to the BLD, think lighter line, clear water, finicky fish and just finesse in general. This jig is going to shine on bodies of water that have a good population of spotted bass – lakes like Norman, Hartwell, Murray, Smith, Logan Martin and Table Rock are a few that come to mind. One thing all those lakes have in common is boat docks. The head shape of the jig provides anglers the ability to skip the jig extremely well around boat docks. It also makes for a very good dragging jig as well.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Watching Bryan New’s success using the Greenfish Tackle Bad Little Dude at the 2022 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk had me intrigued. While using the jig during several fishing trips, I’ve been really impressed. The small profile and head design makes this jig extremely effective when fishing around boat docks. The BLD is available in three different sizes — 1/4-ounce, 3/8-ounce and 1/2-ounce — and comes in a variety of different colors, including a few rubber skirt options. When you’re having trouble getting bit on a full-size jig, give the Greenfish Bad Little Dude a try.
