WHAT IS IT?

Garmin Force Current

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Six years after winning the 2019 ICAST Best of Show award for its innovative Force Trolling Motor, Garmin introduced a kayak version that topped the show’s Motorized Boating Accessories category. Offering a sturdy propulsion system with impressive maneuverability and wireless throttle and steering control, the Force Current Kayak Trolling Motor is built with an efficient brushless motor that offers longer run times than brushed motors. Providing situational options, Garmin includes a weedless pro that cuts through aquatic vegetation and a high-efficiency pro for maximum battery life.

HOW DO I USE IT?

With intuitive installation and quiet operation, Garmin’s Force Current Kayak Trolling Motor includes anchor lock technology with multiband GPS for precise boat positioning technology that holds your position even when wind and/or current challenge your efforts. For optimal convenience, wireless integration with your Garmin chart plotter allows you to adjust throttle and steering, create routes and tracks for the trolling motor to follow and adjust motor settings from your screen. The included stow rope and cleat kit allows the angler to quickly stow or deploy the prop with one hand for traversing shallow areas.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

This well-designed motor offers convenient control options with a floating wireless remote, as well as with compatible Garmin smartwatches. Optional wireless power steer pedals are programmable for quick access to anchor lock, heading hold and other features. Given the tight spaces and occasional stability challenges inherent to kayak fishing, the included wireless man overboard tag is a nice touch. Should the worst-case scenario occur, the motor cuts off if it detects the user has fallen out of the boat.
