The illusion of early movement

Lee Livesay with an apparent great start to the morning, sitting in 5th currently with 11-8 on the day. Though it’s great to have a quick limit, Livesay’s early bag is a good representation of what we often see on Day 2 of an Elite.

As the leaders slowly get the ball rolling, guys from back and middle of the pack charge up the leaderboard. Inevitably though, several of those that started the day farther up begin to shuffle those early morning chargers back down the standings.

The key for anglers like Livesay to lock in, is having a big one or two in that early limit— something an angler can build on. Livesay has that with a 3-0 and a 4-0 to start the day, and plenty of room to improve with three under 2-pounds in the boat. That’s much better than an 11-pound bag of two-and-a-quarters.

With three more of those 3- to 4- pounders, Livesay can stay near the top of the leaderboard, despite his Day 1 weight of 10-10 that had him at 56th to start the day.
