Women-owned brands making their mark on the fishing industry

From innovative fishing products to custom tackle and apparel, these three women-owned businesses are bringing fresh ideas and creativity to the fishing industry.

Women aren’t just showing up on the water in greater numbers; they’re building businesses, creating products and bringing fresh ideas to the fishing industry.

As more women find their place in the outdoors, it’s especially exciting to see female entrepreneurs recognize needs within the fishing community and turn those ideas into brands of their own. From tackle to apparel to something every angler can appreciate after a long day of handling fish, these three women-owned businesses are worth knowing.

True Fishing Gear

True Fishing Gear tackles a problem every angler knows well: fishy hands. The brand offers a spray specifically designed to help remove that stubborn fish smell from your hands after a day on the water.

It’s a simple idea that solves a very real fishing problem and a great example of an angler seeing a need and creating a product around it.

Baddie Baits

Baddie Baits brings a female touch to the world of custom tackle. Behind the brand is a woman pouring her own soft-plastic baits and building a business in a part of the industry that has traditionally been dominated by men.

There’s something especially cool about catching a fish on a bait someone created and poured themselves, and this gal takes tremendous pride in her work (and it shows).

Girlyoutdoorboutique

Girlyoutdoorboutique, the third featured business, takes fishing pride beyond the water, creating embroidered products with creative fishing designs, bass hats and custom work for anglers and brands. Fishing apparel gives us another way to show our connection to the sport, and having women design and create pieces specifically for the fishing community adds another unique voice to the industry.

These businesses may offer very different products, but they represent something bigger.

Supporting women-owned outdoor businesses helps create more opportunities for women throughout the industry. It also shows the next generation of female anglers that their future in fishing doesn’t have to be limited to competing or simply participating. They can be product designers, bait makers, inventors, business owners and entrepreneurs.

The more women we have creating within this space, the stronger and more diverse the fishing industry becomes.

And that is something worth celebrating.
