LAKESIDE, OR – The second annual DiscountTackle.com Oregon B.A.S.S. Classic returned to Tenmile Lakes this past weekend, drawing 65 elite teams to compete for the 2025 state championship title and a $10,000 first-place prize. Held on Oregon’s scenic coast, the event featured strong post-spawn fishing conditions, with most teams turning in full five-bass limits and reporting solid numbers throughout both days of competition.
After a standout first day, the team of Chris Parks and Josh Marthaller led the field with an impressive five-fish limit weighing 23.93 pounds, anchored by a giant 6.78-pound largemouth. Trailing close behind were the teams of Dawson & Doran Gillespie (21.25), Lane Olson & Clint Messner (20.76), Danny Clayton & Kyle Crawford (20.62), and Dillon Boresek & Ryan Mizee (18.58).
With day two expected to be more challenging due to increased fishing pressure, many anticipated a shakeup in the leaderboard. Tenmile Lakes is a phenomenal fishery but relatively small, and sustained pressure can impact bite consistency. However, Parks and Marthaller held firm, weighing another strong limit of 19.93 pounds to secure the championship with a two-day total of 43.86 pounds. Their victory marks back-to-back wins at the DiscountTackle.com Oregon B.A.S.S. Classic, earning them championship belts and nearly $12,000 in cash and prizes.
Final top-five standings:
- Chris Parks & Josh Marthaller – 43.86
- Dawson & Doran Gillespie – 41.45
- Lane Olson & Clint Messner – 39.48
- Danny Clayton & Kyle Crawford – 36.61
- Frank Scarla & Ryan Sparks – 33.77
The DiscountTackle.com Oregon B.A.S.S. Classic has quickly become Oregon’s premier bass fishing event. Following changes in the B.A.S.S. Nation regional qualification structure, Oregon B.A.S.S. Nation leadership pivoted from a season-long circuit to a single marquee event. With the backing of DiscountTackle.com, the concept was launched in 2024 and proved to be a massive success.
In just one year, membership in Oregon B.A.S.S. Nation surged from around 100 in 2023 to nearly 180 in 2024, thanks to the excitement around the new format. The Classic’s two-day, one-weekend structure appeals to anglers across the state, offering a streamlined path to qualify for the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship.
The event also features a Saturday night raffle and dinner, fostering community and camaraderie among participants. The 2025 raffle alone saw nearly 4,000 tickets sold, driven by generous support from Pure Fishing Brands, which provided prizes including Fenwick rods, Abu Garcia reels, and Berkley tackle.
The next Oregon B.A.S.S. Classic will be held in April 2026, with exact dates to be announced. Anglers across the Pacific Northwest are encouraged to attend and experience one of the most exciting grassroots events in the West!
