Gear Review: Northland Mimic Minnow

What is it?

Northland Mimic Minnow

What does it do?

Highly detailed swimbaits with enhanced UV finishes.

What sets it apart?

The already widely recognized and popular Mimic Minnow is now more productive than ever thanks to the new optically brightened, high-visibility UV colors that capture and reflect the sun’s ultraviolet rays. These colors are especially effective in dirty water, shallow water during low-light periods and in deep water.

How do I use it?

The UV Mimic Minnow features a lifelike soft-plastic body that imitates shad and other deep-bodied baitfish, matched with a hard-thumping, hyperactive paddle tail that pumps out vibration even at slow speeds. This lure is worked in the same way any standard swimbait is retrieved. Fast or slow, deep or shallow water; swim this thing through bass-infested waters and you’ll get bit. It comes pre-rigged on a realistic baitfish head. It’s available in several sizes: 1/32- to 3/8-ounce and six bright colors.

Editor insight:

A swimbait is one of the simplest, yet most effective ways to catch bass, and the Mimic Minnow should be added to your arsenal. It can work on a quick retrieve, or slowly dragged along the bottom. The important part is you can be confident that the fish will see this thing, especially in dirty water following a big rain.
