West Virginia chapter recognized for habitat enhancement

The West Virginia B.A.S.S. Nation has been placing spider blocks in Summersville Lake for five years to enhance fish habitat.

The West Virginia B.A.S.S. Nation’s work on Summersville Lake was the subject of a WCHS news report earlier this year. The chapter has been working with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources to plant spider blocks to enhance fish habitat. Volunteers have constructed and placed more than 200 artificial habitats in Summersville Lake, and they’ve also done work on Sutton Lake and Burnsville Lake. Future projects are planned for East Lynn and Beach Fork.
