Vinson on Grand Lake

We start the morning with Day 1 runner-up, Greg Vinson.

Vinson heads into Day 2 only 2-pounds, 13-ounces off the lead set by Jason Christie.

A tough couple hours so far for Vinsonâ¦.

â¦ still on zero.

But not for long. Vinson hooks up.

The fish surfaces just under a dock cable.

Vinson does all he can to hold on to this one.

Going for the grab.

After a minute long battle, Vinson brings the fish aboard.

Things are heating up.

Vinson admires the 3-pounder and shows her off to Bassmaster LIVE.

The fish are few and far between, but theyâre fat. An indicator that itâs not a lack of bass thatâs making the bite tough, but an overabundance of bait.

Vinson slides in between a couple of docks.

The docks are actually hindering Vinson.

He hardly ever makes a cast in their direction, instead focusing on the rocky shoreline and whatever brush might be between the docks.

The docks do offer a nice vantage point for the homeowner/bass fans.

The drone is in the air.

Vinson is cool and calm now, settled a bit after putting fish number one in the boat.

But Vinson knows things are going to have to keep picking up.

This style of fishing is frustrating. Getting hung up is all part of it even for the best of the best.

Into the docks again.

Vinson hooks up again.

The anglers have to really play the fish this week. The fish are barely getting the bait due to the cold water.

Vinson goes for the grab.

Rock seems to be the name of the game this week. No surprise, rock warms the fastest and warm water loosens the lips of pre-spawn bass.

As the day wears on, Vinson becomes increasingly concerned.
