Q Man is a fun social media campaign Quantum did at the 2014 GEICO Bassmaster Classic. Part of the idea was to take Q Man to lots of behind-the-scenes places around the Classic, and chronicle his journey in photos. Here are some highlights.

I’m 9.5 inches tall and made of paper, but I’ve got a big-time obsession for fishing. I’m just your everyday kinda weekend tournament-fishing guy that finally had a chance to attend the Bassmaster Classic.

My travels to the Classic began with an 11-hour drive from Quantum’s headquarters in Tulsa, Okla., to Birmingham, Ala. Here I am crossing over the Mississippi River on Interstate 55 in Memphis.

I began a really fun and busy week fueled by French toast that I shared with Ranger Boats founder Forrest L. Wood.

I had to make sure my Tundra looked good for bass fishing’s biggest event, so as soon as I arrived, I got a graphic wrap put on it at a shop located in Warrior, Ala., just north of Birmingham.

I attended a free GoPro training seminar at Classic Media Day to make sure I knew how to capture all the cool experiences of my week on video.

One of the first pros I ran into was four-time Classic champ Kevin VanDam. He said he’d be throwing a lot of Red Eye Shad lipless crankbaits, and so he had plenty of Quantum TourKVD crankin’ rods ready.

Later that night, KVD was nice enough to take me along to the big banquet B.A.S.S. hosts called the “Night of Champions” to recognize the previous season’s top performers.

I got to see the Quantum booth being constructed for the Bassmaster Classic Outdoor Expo. All of the brands that exhibit put forth a ton of effort and expense to assure a good show for fishing consumers. It took 16 man-hours to build the Quantum booth.

Talk about cool Outdoor Expo show exhibits! Check this out; it’s a several hundred-gallon aquarium with a SpongeBob theme and live saltwater fish built inside a Toyota Highlander.

One of the coolest things I witnessed was 30-time Classic qualifier Gary Klein carrying a 60th Anniversary Zebco 33 during competition in honor of the influence the reel had on his life and millions of other anglers.

Got to meet easy-going Casey Ashley who had a great tournament. He hung around the Top 10 all week by simply by throwing a red/orange lipless crankbait with a 6.6:1 EXO reel.
