On Cooper with Myers

Britt Myers started in second place on Day 2 of the Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite at Winyah Bay presented by GoRVing and he went to work quickly.

Brett Hite was high-tailing it to his first spot as well. Hite was in contention as well and caught enough to move into third place.

Less than five casts of the day Britt Myers hooked up with a Cooper River giant and the fight was on.

The fish fought to the side of the boat.

Myers gets down in the boat to try and land the fish.

It digs at the boat, but Myers keeps his cool as he works it way closer to the boat.

Myers scoops a 6-pounder into the boat.

That is certainly how he wanted to start his day. That put him in the unofficial lead early on Day 2.

What a toad of a largemouth.

He shows it off for Bassmaster LIVE.

Across the area Dave Lefebre puts a keeper in the livewell.

Lefebre started the day in the Top 12 as well.

Myers leans back and slings his bait.

And gets it into the strike zone.

Another heaveâ¦

Myers has one big reason to smile so far. Now he hopes to add a couple more keepers to his total.

He hooks up a couple moments later.

This one is much smaller.

Myers swings this one aboard.

Thatâs number two for the South Carolina anglers.

Myers keeps on fishing and moving around his area.

Then he hooks up again.

This one is the wrong species, but Myers unhooks it and keeps plugging along.

In a flash Myers hooked up again and brought a keeper aboard. This one deserve a fist bump with his cameraman.

He puts number three in the boat.

Myers said he was so tickled with his first fish that he acted as if he never caught one in his life.

Adrian Avena decided to stay closer to Georgetown on Day 1 because of the weather delay, but with a full day on Friday he made the long trek to one of his practice areas.

Avena was working another section of the area and had plenty of room to move around.

The Elite Series rookie hooks up.

With a couple small fish in the boat he wanted to keep this fish on the hook.

He heads to the back of the boat to play the fish and tire it out.

It splashes at the side of the boat as Avena keeps it hooked up.

Then he reaches and grabs the bass.

Thatâll do!

Hooked up again! Avena was putting his tidal experience to work.

He sticks his rod in the water to keep the fish from jumping.

It comes off when it jumps and Avena gets upset for a moment.

Off in the distance Myers continues to work around.

But when he swings it in he realizes it may not measure 12 inches.

Multiple spectator boats gather to watch the pros fish.

Myers kept the momentum going as he hooked up again.

This is much smaller than he had hoped, but he swings it in his boat.

This one wonât measure so he throws it back.

Myers gets bit again and sets the hook for the sixth time.

This one is a little better sized than the last few.

It jumps near the trolling motor as it tries to get free.

And it comes unbuttoned for Myers. With only three keepers in the livewell, Myers needed that one to keep working towards a limit.

This vast fishery had plenty of water to cover.

For Lefebre, it was time to make a move.

Off in the distance we saw rookie John Hunter and on BASSTrakk he had two fish for 10 pounds so we headed over to see how he was fishing.

He was fishing some fishy looking water.

Hunter flips a couple times before switching it up.

James Elam scoots by a patch of reeds off in the distance as boats begin shifting around midday.

Hunter hopes to make the cut for Day 3, which will be his first check as an Elite Series angler.

Britt Myers continues to probe his area.

Itâs a game of 1,000 casts.

Myers checks out his electronics to find a couple little spots around this area.

Then he decides to make a small move.

So he idles over to another section. Myers ended up catching 21-7 on Day 2 and took a commanding 5-pound, 3-ounce lead over Kelly Jordon.
