Hefty afternoon with Hackney

Follow Hackney's afternoon on Day 1 of the Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Santee Cooper Lakes

We picked up this afternoon on Day 1 of the Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Santee Cooper Lakes with Louisiana’s Greg Hackney.
There was no question prior to the event that this event set up right in Greg Hackney’s wheelhouse. The Louisiana pro was picking apart the endless cover on Lake Marion with a flipping stick.
Shortly after we made it to Hackney, he hooks up with a really nice and flips it into the boat.
This fish went into BassTrakk as a four pounder….
Hackney reties his bait to get back after it.
Roughly 20 yards further down the bank Hackney hooks up with another good fish.
Another solid upgrade.
Not long after making the cull, Hackney leaves the bank that he’s fishing. He went on to mention that he was partially starting to practice for the rest of the tournament.
Hackney makes the move to a group of isolated cypress trees not far from where he caught the two good ones.
Not long after making the move to the trees, he hooks up with another keeper. However, this fish won’t help Hackney.
