Elites hammer Cayuga on Day 2

After following Day 1 leader Morizo Shimizu around early on Friday, we left him and found some hot-handed anglers during the afternoon at Cayuga. Jordan Lee was the first angler we found and he was making a move up the leaderboard.

Lee just caught a good fish as we pulled into his area. He was in 22nd after Day 1 and was in striking distance of the possible lead.

He started culling after making a solid charge earlier in the morning. He was getting closer to 20 pounds with every cull.

Second-year Elite pro Brandon Coulter was also in the area with Jordan Lee.

Lee had his head down and was grinding out bigger bites in his respective area.

Lee was unofficially in the Top 5 at about midday on Day 2, but he kept the pedal down as he kept searching for an upgrade.

He was sharing the area with multiple boats as they all worked around each other picking apart the cover.

It didn’t take long for Lee to hook up in front of us.

J. Lee swings aboard a keeper largemouth, but one that probably wouldn’t help him upgrade.

So he immediately released it back into Cayuga.

Meanwhile behind me Brent Ehrler had hooked up and landed a pretty solid fish. He put it on the scale to see what it weighed.

Then he slid it into the livewell.

Ehrler didn’t get very close to the other group of anglers in the area though.

Meanwhile Kelly Jordon was exiting the region…

And Josh Bertrand was funneling into the region.

Keith Combs was also fishing nearby and working the water column as best as possible. He moved up the leaderboard from the bubble to 18th.

Lee took a break from casting as he scanned the depths with his eyes looking for any possible cruising fish. Then he began fan casting the area.

Matt Lee flies by his brother and company as he heads to his next spot. The elder Lee caught a very good bag on Day 2 and jumped into the cut and is fishing Day 3.
