Ish Monroe flips in a fish early on Friday morning. The fish was not a keeper.
A few moments later he hooks up with another.
After fighting through the wood cover, the fish makes a jump. It would be Monroeâs fourth keeper.
Monroe check his line before making another cast.
Stick ups and trees were a common sight all over Lake Falcon.
A lot of those pods of trees held keepers.
This would be Monroeâs limit fish.
Monroe holds up his best two at that point in the morning.
Paul Elias makes a big flip into wood cover.
And quickly sets the hook.
The fish jumps out of the wood cover.
Then runs toward the boat.
Where it begins to jump.
Elias started to jerk the fish in the boat, but at the last minute felt it wasnât hooked well enough.
He holds his rod as high as he moves to lip the fish.
The fish isnât done yet.
Elias makes a desperate grab for the line.
Gets the fish close enough to get a hand on it.
Then pulls it in the boat, while also letting out a big sigh.
A relieved Elias relaxes a moment.
Elias is soon back to flipping.
Matt Reed hooks up with his fifth fish of the day.
He gets the fish close to the boat.
Then jerks it out of the water.
And toward the boat.
With a limit, Reed is quickly back to work.
He failed to catch another keeper in the area.
Brandon Card flips wood cover in Mexico waters.
His morning was slow, but quickly turned around with bites like this.
He pulls the fish to the top of the water.
Where it starts jumping and wallowing its way toward the boat.
With one last jump at the trolling motor.
Card is able to get the fish ready to pull in.
The fish makes one last head shake, before Card gets him over the gunwales.
This was Cardâs third keeper.
Nearby David Walker pitches to cover.
Walker also hooks up, but the fish would not make it to the well.
The rows of sticks and trees was endless.
Fletcher Shryock flips trees nearby.
Fred Roumbanis makes a long pitch.
Jonathon VanDam started the day in 5th place with 28 pounds, 8 ounces.
Fletcher Shryock started Day Two in 56th place with 17 pounds, 13 ounces.
Tournament leader Keith Combs was sharing water with both VanDam and Shyrock.
Greg Vinson had an area to himself along the Falcon Dam.
Keith Combs and Jonathon VanDam caught a combined weight of 63 pounds, 9 ounces off this spot on Day One.
Larger bass were eluding Combs early on Day Two.
Combs still found a way to celebrate this fish catch.
