6:42 a.m. – Bassmaster Elite Series pro Jason Christie of Oklahoma begins his day on Lake L by fishing a frog across lily pads in a tributary arm.

âAugust bass fishing can be slow during stable weather conditions, and that little cold front certainly didnât helped me any today,â Christie told Bassmaster. âThis lake has acres of awesome-looking pad cover, but I couldnât catch any quality bass from pads. I was really expecting to whack at least one big fish on a frog, but it just didnât happen. I noticed that practically every fish I caught was suspended, either under pads or under a dock, and when theyâre suspending, theyâre not actively feeding and can be real hard to catch. If I were to fish here tomorrow under the same conditions, Iâd probably move out deeper and try to find some offshore structure that isnât loaded with that stinky grass.â
