College: Day 2 on Green River Lake

Day 2 of the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Green River Lake started with overcast skies and what looks like rain, but the bad weather held off and gave the anglers a cool day out on the water as they battled for the Top 12 spots.

We found the leaders soon after takeoff and we followed Sam Stone and Evan Coleman of Texas State to watch them start their day.

It eventually came off and they said it was a giant muskie and not a bass.

I left the leaders and made my way to the second place angler Hunter Louden. He whacked 20-6 on Day 1 of this event and looked to do the same on Friday.

Louden patiently picked apart his area, but he ended up staying in second place with just his one fish because it was a tough day on Green River Lake.

We left Louden and found his teammates Brian Pahl and John Garrett who started the day three pounds behind and in third place.

After Pahl and Garrett left we found Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivens of Kansas State who started the day in 6th place overall.

On the way to our next stop we stopped on the local favorites Lance Freeman and Chandler Christian of Murray State. They struggled on Day 1, but was hoping for some cut-day magic.

We stopped by to see the Oltorik brothers from Daytona State. Thomas and James were in 5th place after Day 1 and were trying to duplicate their 15-pound bag from Thursday.

On the way back toward the takeoff ramp we found JP Kimbrough and Jared Rascoe who were on the bubble for the Top 12 after Day 1 and had a limit early on Friday. They liked their chances of making the final day, but they weren't sold that they were a lock just yet.
