The final boats head out onto Lake Maumelle for Day Two of the Mercury College B.A.S.S. National Championship.

The sun breaks through the light morning cloud cover over Lake Maumelle right after takeoff.

Troy anglers Jeremy Knight and Josh Grimes work shoreline early on Friday.

Powell and Lee went to the northernmost section of Lake Maumelle.

But they had little luck fishing grass and lily pads early.

Another competitor comes under the Highway 10 bridge into the area.

Auburn University-Montgomery anglers Jacob Nummy and Corey Pierce slipped into the area.

Nummy and Pierce worked the grassline hoping for the early morning shallow bite.

Bird nests made of mud hang protected under the Highway 10 bridge.

Anderson and Foard are off to hopefully greener pastures.

Stephen F. Austin angler Ryan Watkins has a fish on the line as Andrew Upshaw readies the net.

Watkins and Upshaw began the day in third place and had a limit early.

Upshaw reaches for the fish but it eludes the net.

Watkins works to keep the fish in position for Upshaw.

Upshaw nets it to the delight of Watkins.

And gives a fish pump with another keeper in the boat.

Arkansas anglers Kyle Billingsley and Mook Miller were within sight of SFA but werenât having the same success.

SFA is hooked up again, this time with Upshaw setting the hook.

Watkins gets the net while setting down his rod.

Their spot, marked with a buoy, kept them busy in the first hour.

SFA has another keeper in the boat.

Upshaw culls and SFA, with 11-2 on Day One, was on its way to a top five finish and another day fishing for the Mercury College B.A.S.S. National Championship.
