Auten began his morning fishing forests of flooded Cyprus trees using a few different baits.
He is moving around these pockets slowly, picking apart Cyprus trees in shallow water.
This pocket of trees was productive for him yesterday, but not so much today.
With no luck in this area, Auten decides to make a move to another one of his trusted spots
Quickly after arriving to this spot, he hooks up on his first fish of the day.
This first fish is a keeper.
Auten continues to throw at this school of fish.
Auten quickly gets on a back-to-back bite.
This second fish is a bigger keeper and moves Auten into third place unofficially on BASSTrakk.
Fish number three is on the hook shortly after.
Another keeper in the boat.
Auten is on a quick flurry. Fish number four is on the hook just minutes later.
But this one gets off the hook.
A short time later, Auten decides to let this spot rest and try out a different area.
Approaching the early afternoon, Auten finally hooks up on fish number four.
And it’s in the boat and in the livewell. Auten now has four keepers and is sitting in fourth place unofficially on BASSTrakk.
Auten continues his afternoon bouncing around to different spots in search for fish number five. With time winding down, he is fishing hard to fill his livewell before weigh in. Auten continues to battle to keep his top ten spot on day two of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Santee Cooper Lakes.
