Volunteers helped register anglers for the 4th Annual Keith Combs Sam Rayburn Slam. The longtime Bassmaster Elite Series angler has held the tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn near his home in Huntingdon, Texas, to benefit military personnel.

There were more than 150 people in attendance, helping the event raise more than $40,000 for Warrior's Weekend Texas. Warrior's Weekend is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of our combat wounded veterans.

The weekend began with a dinner and live auction at the Event Center in Jasper on Friday night. Guests were treated to a steak dinner provided by The Stump restaurant.

There were kids ages 6-18 competing in three different age groups, with the grand champion winning an Old Town Vapor 10 kayak.

Mathew Perry, 17, of Copperas Cove, Texas, was the overall grand champion and took home the Old Town Vapor 10 kayak.

Combs had secured a good group of sponsors allowing him to hold the event, which offered a 100 percent payback to the $250 entry fee.

The top Youth Team was Brent and Whitt Broussard, who finished 19th overall with 13.61 pounds. They earned $500 and $500 in products.
