Open: Eufaula’s cancelation conditions

The second day of the 2023 St. Croix Bassmaster Open at Lake Eufaula Alabama was called off due to high winds forecasted as a system pushes through the area. The winds already had picked up early Friday at Lakepoint Marina, where launches and weigh-ins are being held.
Flags were whipping at the nearby docks, even though the water looked fairly calm in the cove. But did that tell the real story of the weather day?
There was some evidence of strong gusts at the weigh-in.
However, evidence of the impact of strong winds started showing on the main lake, with fairly good-sized waves churning the surface between the two bridges at Eufaula.
Go south of the railroad bridge, and things really began getting rough.
Winds also had picked up by midmorning.
And those winds resulted in an angry main lake.
Waves were huge on the Alabama side of the main lake at Eufaula.
And they weren’t any smoother on the Georgia side. This is the view of the mouth of Pataula Creek, and the waves were pretty intimidating.
A local braved the waves – and this was in the somewhat protected waters inside Pataula creek, away from the open mouth of the tributary.
This scene tells the story, which huge waves crashing into a seawall well inside of Pataula Creek.
