MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark.—Due to the likelihood of multiple severe weather threats, B.A.S.S. officials cancelled the final day of the St. Croix Bassmaster Open at Norfork presented by SEVIIN.
“As much as we dislike it, today is cancelled and the tournament is complete,” said Hank Weldon, B.A.S.S. executive director of tournaments.
“With a six-foot rise in the lake level, debris in the water and another six inches more of rain in the forecast, that could make the lake go up another six or 10 feet. This is the best decision also based on the ongoing threat of severe weather.”
The National Weather Service forecast states that heavy rainfall resulting in significant life-threatening flash flooding will be a continuing threat on Saturday and into the evening for the area. Thunderstorms capable of producing large hail are also possible, along with damaging winds and tornadoes.
Casey Scanlon is the winner of the tournament with 18 pounds, 5 ounces. A recap of the tournament will be posted shortly.
