Potential striped bass record caught

A 70-pound striper from Alabama could be a new world record.

James R. Bramlett, 65, of Dora, Ala., reportedly caught a 70-pound landlocked striped bass from the Black Warrior River on Thursday, Feb. 28. If everything checks out, the weight is certified and he submits it for record consideration by the International Game Fish Association, the fish could become the new all-tackle record, eclipsing a 67-pound, 8-ounce striper caught from O’Neill Forebay near Los Banos, Calif., by Hank Ferguson on May 7, 1992.
