"I think most of the anglers will fish the grass and do something similar to what I've been doing. Kentucky Lake is big. There's a lot of stuff to fish out there."
Recently several people have asked me about my offseason and my preparations for the 2009 Bassmaster Classic. It's a fair question. It's also one I have trouble answering.
The Classic berths will be awarded after the season's final event.The top 10 in the points standings will be invited to join the 2009 Bassmaster Elite Series, the highest level of BASS competition.
Specifically, the amendment states, "recreational fishing shall be managed as a sustainable activity in national wildlife refuges, national parks, national monuments, national marine sanctuaries, marine protected areas, or any other relevant conservation or management areas or activities under any federal authority, consistent with applicable law."
You really had to pick the cover apart if you wanted to catch anything. Subtle didn't work; you had to wake them up or make them mad before they would bite.
Jerry Williams had a backup plan he had found during practice: "It was a dock bite, and I hadn't had to go to it the last two days, but I knew I had to make that move this morning when my fish were gone."
The wind changed the surface conditions of the lake, from a decent chop with mild current into a torrent of white caps, all but washing away the shallow pattern most of the anglers were dialed into on Day One.
"Going back to the Classic on the Red River would be nice," said Williams. "The Red River fits the way I like to fish. If I go, I'll be putting everything I've got into it."
For more than 10 years, BASS has partnered with the PVA to conduct bass fishing tournaments in which paralyzed veterans and other Americans with disabilities can compete.
