Gear Review: NEBO Mycro 500+

WHAT IS IT?

NEBO Mycro 500+

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Blending the hands-free convenience of a headlamp with the versatility of a mini flashlight, the NEBO Mycro 500+ features an adjustable reflective strap that detaches to allow clip-on hat light use or handheld directional focus for tight spots. The Mycro 500+ offers an LED spotlight with turbo (500 lumens), high (200), medium (100) and low (30) settings, as well as a C.O.B. (chip on board) flood light with high (200 lumens), low (50) and red (25) settings.

HOW DO I USE IT?

A multiposition tilt feature allows the user to find the ideal angle in headlamp or cap light mode, while the included USB charging cable keeps your illumination on standby without worrying about battery replacement. The compact Mycro 500+ measures 1.75 by 2.75 by .06 inches and weighs .25 pound. The LED and C.O.B. on/off buttons are easily accessed on the top edge. Utilizing Smart Power Control, the Micro 500+ is water (IPX4) and impact resistant.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

In addition to the traditional hat bill positioning, the NEBO Mycro 500+ also clips to shirt pockets, jackets pockets and belts of moderate thickness. This diversity plus the multiangle tilt design allowed me to direct the light wherever I needed it. From a personal safety standpoint, joggers, cyclists or anyone out for after-dark errands will benefit from the flood light’s illumination, but one flash from that spot light’s turbo setting will temporarily blind any would-be assailant or aggressive animal.
