Watch live: Friday | Saturday & Sunday
After finding bountiful bass on the St. Lawrence River, Bassmaster Elite Series anglers are buckling up for a weekend of challenging fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. While Bassmaster LIVE is always an unpredictable and entertaining mix of on-the-water coverage, audience interaction, bass fishing trivia and Mark Zona quips, here are two subjects that will surely be discussed during the 12 hours of LIVE tournament coverage.
AOY race redux
The St. Lawrence Elite only muddied the water when it came to predicting the 2015 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year (AOY) winner. Though Aaron Martens surged to first place in the AOY standings with a solid performance in Waddington, established pros like Dean Rojas, Edwin Evers and Cliff Pirch are still well within striking distance.

Wondering about weights
The Elites expect tough fishing this week in Maryland. Chesapeake Bay hosted the 1991 Bassmaster Classic as well as two Northern Opens in 2009 and 2010. All three were three-day tournaments, but the winning weights escalated in each event.
Ken Cook won the 1991 Bassmaster Classic with a weight of 33.2.
Dave Mansue won the 2009 Northern Open #1 with 47.6.
Nate Wellman won the 2010 Northern Open #3 with 53.1.
Jacob Powroznik predicts, “The fish might be bigger, but the fishing still is going to be tough — tougher than normal because we’ll be there in the dead of summer.”
