2015 High School All-American: Cam Sterritt

Cam Sterritt has been a star on the New Hampshire bass fishing scene practically since he could walk, but as much as loves catching fish, protecting them is his passion.

NEWFIELDS, N.H. — Cam Sterritt has been a star on the New Hampshire bass fishing scene practically since he could walk, but as much as loves catching fish, protecting them is his passion.

Sterritt has worked on multiple conservation projects, and his goal is to become a conservation officer with the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department.

“Cam is of the highest moral character,” said the athletic director at his high school, William Ball, “and he possesses an infectious sense of responsibility and unbridled willingness to be of assistance.

“Moreover, Cam can be trusted implicitly,” continued Ball, “and whatever task he undertakes, he accomplishes to the best of this ability.”

On the conservation side, Sterritt has undertaken cleanups at a state park and worked with New Hampshire Fish & Game and New Hampshire B.A.S.S. Nation to tag bass in a research project on Squam Lake.

Other non-conservation projects he’s volunteered on have included CastingKids competitions and working with kids at Camp Carefree, a camp for children with diabetes.

Sterritt launched the bass fishing team at Exeter High School, where he is a senior. He’s the vice president of the team, and he’s also the president of the New Hampshire Junior Bassmasters.

Sterritt will compete alongside a Bassmaster Elite Series pro as part of the 2015 Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team, June 6, on Tennessee’s Lake Barkley. He was one of only 12 high school anglers selected for the honor.
