Brandon Card hosts tournament for college and high school anglers

SANTA ROSA, CA. – Brandon Card was the first collegiate angler to ever qualify for the prestigious Bassmaster Elite tournament series. Later this autumn, Card returns to his roots by playing host to a tournament designed solely for high school and collegiate anglers.

The first-ever Brandon Card College & High School Bass Open will take place on Norris Lake, Tenn., on Nov. 5, 2016. The event has a unique double-tournament format, one division with collegiate anglers and the other division high school anglers. The two divisions will compete for separate trophies, payouts, and prizes. The first place collegiate team will win $2,500, and the top high school team will win $1,500.

Card is a member of the Buff, Inc., ambassador team, and Buff, Inc., is one of the presenting sponsors of the event along with Suzuki Marine and the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce.

“The opportunity to give back to young anglers would not be possible without the help of BUFF® headwear and my other sponsors,” said Card. “I am fortunate to work with companies that see value in nurturing the next generation of competitive anglers.”

The first 100 registrants at the Brandon Card College & High School Bass Open will receive a UV BUFF® product, the headwear that made the BUFF® brand a household name among anglers.

Buff, Inc. VP & GM Shirley Brunetti said, “We’re big fans of Brandon Card and what he’s doing with this inaugural tournament to get young anglers engaged in sport fishing. By providing BUFF® UV protection products at this tournament, we’re reinforcing how important — and easy —  it is for the next generation of anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to incorporate sun protection gear into their activities.”

Card, was the 2012 Bassmaster Rookie of the Year who just finished out the 2016 season, his best showing a second-place finish at Bassmaster BASSFest on Lake Texoma. He’ll continue competing throughout the winter in preparation for the 2017 season.
