Use different colors baits for fishing different depths

When Tennessee pro Brandon Card is dragging a big worm across deep offshore ledges, particularly on the TVA impoundments, there’s no question which color he’ll be throwing: Plum. It’s accounted for some of the best catches of his young career, and it’s a tour-level staple.

Nevertheless, thinking about plum’s effectiveness, he quickly realized that it’s often limited to a particular depth range. “I’ve never heard about anyone using it shallow,” he said. Indeed, he’s tried to force feed it to fish in the past and come up empty before switching to a color like watermelon, green pumpkin or black and blue and resuming catching fish.
