Wiggins ups the ante when employing the tried-and-true shaky head technique. He opts for much bigger baits and heavier heads, and pairs the lure with beefier tackle. The technique and targets, however, remain similar. Photo by Shane Durance

Jesse Wiggins is pioneering a heavy metal movement with mega worms and 1/2-ounce shaky heads Jesse Wiggins felt a slight pressure under his line beneath the warm, Florida sun. He watched the thin strand of fluorocarbon begin to take life on the water. Instinctively, he set the hook, and within a breath, Wiggins found himself in a fight with a 6-pound Harris Chain large mouth. That fish would go on to be a kicker, sealing a 2017 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Southern Open victory and cementing his belief in a new way to fish: the power shaky head. “It’s a way to throw bigger trick worms on a shaky head,” Wiggins says.
