How to rebound after a bad day on the water

Jason Christie says he often tries to cover too much water on the first day of a tournament. He does better when he settles on one area.

Now that Oklahoman Jason Christie has established himself as one of the world’s top professional bass anglers, you might think he rarely struggles to get bites. Despite finishing second in the 2017 Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings, Christie claimed he often underperforms on the first day of a tournament.

This is a common dilemma for weekend warriors as well because many anglers stumble at the beginning. What separates Christie from the pack is that he usually rebounds quickly from a slow start, as opposed to crashing and burning.
