Gear Review: YoloTek PowerStation

What is it?

YoloTek PowerStation

What sets it apart?

When users told YoloTek that their appreciation for the company’s  PowerStick-53” (the powered GoPro mount that plugs into a boat’s nav light port) was dampened only by a desire to use this innovative product anywhere on the boat, the Kansas City-based company responded with the PowerStation — a portable 12v power supply that can hold a PowerStick-53” to create a GoPro/Phone Stand that eliminates the concern over running out of juice.

How do I use it?

A multifunctional, airplane-friendly battery box with a PowerStick-53-inch port, the PowerStation holds any GoPro, Virb or phone — essentially your on-demand cameraman. Also serving the charging needs of campers, kayakers and out outdoors enthusiasts, the PowerStation mounts a Yolotek PowerLight for hands-free lighting.

Made of aircraft grade aluminum anodized in YoloTek green, the PowerStation adjusts from 31.5 to 53 inches. PowerLight features include an adjustable beam with high, medium, low, strobe & built-in S.O.S. for safety.

How much?

$149.99

Angler’s insight:

This company’s genesis has defined the phrase “necessity is the mother of invention.” After his father lost cellphone power during a fishing trip, creator Christian Corley designed the original PowerStick-10”, which revolutionized the fishing and boating industry by enabling boaters to hold and power their cellphones even in the absence of 12-volt chargers. Exclusively distributed by T-H Marine, the PowerStation keeps anglers in touch for safety and is always ready to record for bragging rights.
