Perhaps the biggest improvement is the latch system. These are easy to open one-handed, and the cooler still performs its work in a way that can best be described as wizardry. The previous model had a hard metal handle, and the company replaced it with a flexible cable with a hard plastic grip. It feels strong and gets out of your way when you need it to.
