WHAT IS IT?
Team Lew’s Pro SP
WHAT SETS IT APART?
When bass hide under docks, not many presentations can top skipping a jig. However, the propensity for backlashing when a bait taps a dock post or collides with a wave can be daunting. That was the impetus for the Team Lew’s Pro SP Skipping and Pitching reel. Essential to Lew’s problem-solving is the drilled and forged, anodized Duralumin 32mm shallow spool with recessed Knot Slot, which holds 40 yards of 20-pound-test fluorocarbon. Also, the externally adjustable six-pin, 27-position QuietCast centrifugal braking system includes an orange “Skipping Zone.”
HOW DO IT USE IT?
Available in right- and left-hand models, this 8.3:1 reel features a one-piece aluminum Super Low-Profile frame with graphite side plates, hard anodized aluminum Speed Gears (cut on precision Hamai CNC gear hobbing machines), a P2 Super Pinion bearing supported pinion gear providing precise alignment and solid stability, a premium nine-bearing system with double-shielded stainless-steel ball bearings and Zero Reverse one-way clutch bearing. Other features: Zirconia line guide, External lube port and the Lew’s patented Speed Keeper hook keeper.
Combining its backlash control features with a rugged carbon fiber drag system that provides up to 20 pounds of drag power and a bowed lightweight 95mm aluminum reel handle with EVA knobs, Lew’s ensures smooth casting to reach the fish and plenty of power to separate them from the dock. Moreover, the precision and backlash prevention make this reel an effective choice for any short range targeted presentations from spinnerbaits to bladed jigs.
