Gear Review: Oakley Split Shot Sunglasses

WHAT IS IT?

Oakley Split Shot Sunglasses

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Oakley Sunglasses have been extremely popular with athletes of all kinds and the company is now looking to the angler. Oakley has created its first pair of glasses tailored to those on or around the water. The Oakley Split Shot is designed with the must-have features to make them attractive to anglers. With its integrated leash design, ultimate compatibility with a ball cap and blockage of sun sneaking in behind the frames and into your eyes, the Split Shot will become your best friend on the water. The Plutonite lenses provide top-of-the-line UV protection which filters 100% of UVA (UV Aging) and UVB (UV Burning) — your eyes will appreciate them, too.

HOW DO I USE IT?

For all anglers alike, a good pair of sunglasses is a must. Being able to deliver in a variety of conditions is key, and the ability to see beneath the water is the most important. Oakley introduced its new PRIZM lens technology to make it easier to do just that. The PRIZM lenses help your eyes pick out the colors that are normally more sensitive while filtering the noisy colors out to create a clear view to below the surface. There is a shallow and a deep-water version, tailored to fit your needs. Although both will work perfectly fine in either scenario, the shallow water polarized lens will help you on inland waters — lakes, streams and rivers — while the deep-water polarized are suited for those open water and sea conditions. Choose from 10 frame/lens combos to find your perfect look and take to the water.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Whether you are running in a tournament bass boat or enjoying a day with friends and family by the water, you don’t always want your shades on. The leash, which is removable for those who choose to do so, will allow you to comfortably hang them off your neck and have them ready when needed. A durable pair of sunglasses designed with a relaxed day on the water in mind is just what you will find with the Split Shots.
