Gear Review: MotorGuide Tour Series

Tour reinvented

MotorGuide’s Tour Series trolling motors have been redesigned from prop to pedal with the best technology available. With a renewed dedication to building the world’s best trolling motors, MotorGuide’s Tour and Tour Pro are the cable steer trolling motors that every diehard angler has been waiting for.

These two motors even bring back an old favorite, an all-metal and zero-flex foot pedal which provides the most solid steering on the market. Tour and Tour Pro are built for tough conditions with a full 360-degree breakaway system and a rugged two-piece shaft assembly with an oversized metal outer column and unbreakable inner composite shaft with a lifetime warranty.

Why cable steer?

MotorGuide’s Tour Series delivers silent, responsive true cable steering with the traditional cables anglers know and trust. Improved stainless-steel cables run from the all-metal foot pedal to a steering drum that keeps the angler in immediate control of the lower unit. Tour Series motors can steer and respond quickly — over twice the speed of the leading competitor, which provides the quick steering that anglers have come to expect from a true cable steer motor.

Tour Pro is the only true cable steer motor with GPS anchor available today. Pinpoint GPS comes standard on all Tour Pro motors, providing anglers with 3x as precise anchoring capabilities, so anglers can stay on structure and fish, even in tough currents and wind. Pinpoint GPS also includes features like Jog, Heading Lock and Cruise Control for ultimate boat control, as well as chartplotter integration for autopilot and navigation control from Lowrance, Simrad and Mercury VesselView displays.

More time on the water

MotorGuide’s Zero-G lift assist system requires half the effort to stow and deploy versus competitors’ assist mounts. A powerful nitrogen gas spring makes light work of long days on the water, while patented Bulldog latches bite down to lock in place but release on command for effortless stowing and deploying. An integrated bounce buster and cable routing make installation and maintenance simple.

Tour Series motors come standard with the new Katana two-blade weedless propeller from MotorGuide. Katana effortlessly glides through weeds with its NASA hydrofoil shape. And industry-leading technology from Mercury Marine makes Katana is the most powerful and efficient trolling motor prop available today, extending anglers’ time on the water with up to 30% more battery life in any application.

Angler’s choice

MotorGuide believes in giving anglers the freedom to connect with their sonar brand of choice. In models equipped with HD+ universal sonar, a transducer is integrated directly into the motor. This eliminates the need for external cable routing, while still providing both 83/200 kHz traditional 2D views and 455/800 kHz high-definition views. HD+ universal sonar technology offers compatibility with most Lowrance, Garmin, Raymarine, Humminbird and Mercury VesselView units so anglers aren’t anchored to just one option.

Tour Series motors are available with a 45-inch shaft in either 24V or 36V. Tour and Tour Pro are backed by a three-year warranty and are available starting at $1,399 for Tour and $2,299 for Tour Pro.
