Gear Review: HUK Tech Hybrid

What is it?

HUK Tech Hybrid

What sets it apart?

Calling this its pinnacle woven shirt, HUK designed the Tech Hybrid to allow anglers to focus on fishing and not their apparel. This starts with a lightweight, breathable, quick-drying fabric with two-way stretch. Comfortable for long days on the water, this shirt fosters freedom of movement with features like raglan sleeves and a textured front that allows moisture to equally disperse away from your body into the garment.

How do I use it?

HUK’s Tech Hybrid shirt comes in bone and silver-blue with sizes S-XXXL. With laser perforated underarms and back ensuring breathability, the design includes quick-drying mesh-backed zippered chest pockets, snap closure cuffs that help keep water, wind and dust out of the sleeves, a built-in microfiber sunglass wipe on the inside bottom of the hemline and a reflective logo that adds a low-light safety. The snap collar allows the option of wearing a traditional or open look. With the latter, the snaps remain hidden on the collar’s underside.

How much?

$80 ($85 XXXL)

Angler’s insight:

Not that anglers have much need for swordplay, but doing battle with big fish — the casts and the ensuing fight — requires flexibility. That’s why HUK designed the Tech Hybrid with the raglan sleeve — a single piece extending from the collar with a diagonal seam from underarm to collarbone. Named for Lord Raglan, a British commander who lost an arm during the Battle of Waterloo, the sleeve style was created by British clothing maker Aquascutum to allow Raglan maximum range of motion for his remaining arm. You gotta think that’s a plus for skipping docks.
