WHAT IS IT?
Daiwa Zillion SV TW
WHAT SETS IT APART?
The Zillion name has been prominent in baitcasters for several years, but Daiwa’s newest model builds on the brand’s Stress-free Versatile (SV) technology with the SV Booster System — a two-stage braking system that minimizes backlashes while improving casting distance. The thinner, lighter G1 aluminum spool reduces inertia for better delivery of lighter lures. Made with Daiwa’s efficiency-centric T-Wing System, the Zillion SV TW boasts a new Hyper Drive design, which promotes winding performance and smooth retrieve.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Central to that design, the Hyper Drive Digigear improves gear teeth efficiency in terms of power transfer. Also, the Hyper Armed Housing (aluminum frame and side-plate) provide maximum rigidity and precision internal performance, while the Hyper Double Support — a two bearing support system for the reel’s pinion gear — promotes stability for smooth gear rotation. Completing the package, a redesigned and reinforced Hyper Tough Clutch bolsters durability and performance. Available in 6.3:1, 7.1:1 and 8.5:1 gear ratios with right- and left-hand models.
Weighing a modest 6.7 ounces, the Zillion SV TW’s design promotes “palmability” by positioning the Magforce dial under the reel where it doesn’t contact the angler’s palm. Also, Daiwa covers the T-Wing System with a hood, which presents a comfortable thumb rest. Recognizing that the U.S. market sees larger lures and bigger fish than its Japanese counterparts, Daiwa includes brass gearing for greater rigidity and resilience in the Hyper Drive system — a more fitting choice than the aluminum gears used in the reels sent to the Japanese market.
