Gear Review: Cuda Fishing Tools Professional Snip and Pliers

What is it?

Cuda Fishing Tools Professional Snip and Pliers

What sets it apart?

Cuda Fishing Tools expanded its Professional lineup with an 8-inch Snip made of Titanium Non-Stick, with corrosion-resistant German 4116 stainless steel blades boasting a micro-serrated edge to quickly cut strapping, netting and fins, in addition to wire, braid, mono and fluorocarbon.

The expansion also includes 8-inch Professional Pliers with rust- and corrosion-resistant Titanium Alloy jaws. An integrated cutter easily slices through braid, mono, fluorocarbon and light wire.

How do I use it?

Both the Snips and Pliers feature multi-layer, two-tone, cold-molded Micarta handles with full-tang construction for a secure grip, while the Snips also include a lock for safety and storage. A custom, hard-molded sheath firmly holds each tool in place and the attachable lanyard adds safety and security for the tool while facilitating cleanup. Both the Professional Snip and Professional Pliers are backed by the Cuda lifetime warranty.

How much?

Professional Snip $59.99

Professional Plier $99.99

Angler’s insight:

Dependable pliers are the American Express card of fishing — don’t leave home without it. (A little dated, I know, but applicable nonetheless.) From tuning crankbaits, to replacing hooks, to plucking firmly-placed baits, pliers are a must. But what about cutting stuff? Most of us carry some type of braid shear that’ll handle any fishing string in the boat, but have you ever snagged the derelict remains of old trot lines, jug lines or other manmade nonsense? When such encumbrances arise, you’ll appreciate the horsepower of a larger and better leveraged cutting device.
