Gear Review: Costa Sunrise Silver Mirror lens

What is it?

Costa Sunrise Silver Mirror lens

What sets it apart?

The new Sunrise Silver Mirror, which is available in the Corbina, Fantail, Fisch, Tuna Alley, Motu and Blackfin frames bring a new look, view and feel for polarized sunglasses. The lens was designed for lowlight conditions and allows roughly 30 percent of the light in, compared to the typical 10 to 16 percent with other lenses, while still maintaining 97 percent polarization.

How do I use it?

I know it sounds excessive, but keeping a couple different lens colors in your boat or tackle storage will better equip you for unfoeseen conditions that often creep up during a day on the water. When the clouds roll in, the silver mirrors will reduce glare and eye fatigue. Keeping you comfortable and effective is essential to catching more fish.

Angler’s insight:

Not all shades are created equal. When the sun is high and skies are clear, how effective your sunglasses are will change with cloud cover. Keeping a pair to match the conditions you’ll certainly be faced with will help you catch more fish. And who’s complaining about that?
