Gear Review: Z-Man TRD Finesse Jig

WHAT IS IT?

Z-Man TRD Finesse Jig

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Z-Man covers the bases with 1/4-, 3/8- and 1/2-ounce sizes that offer effective options for largemouth and smallmouth targets in a wide range of depths. For quick reference, each jig’s weight is stamped on the side of its head, while a hybrid molded split-grip and wire keeper holds those ElaZtech trailers in place. Making this jig a formidable tool for sticking and holding whatever bites, Z-Man included a premium 2/0 BKK black nickel needlepoint hook. Fitted with an eight-strand fiber weed guard, the Finesse TRD jig is offered in nine color patterns.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Z-Man’s newest take on the Ned rig profile features a broad kettle-shaped head that traverses rock and shell more effectively than a standard head style. Dressed in a fine silicone skirt, the TRD Finesse Jig fits well with Z-Man’s entire lineup of TRD trailers, as that rounded head design works with buoyant ElaZtech bodies for a standup posture that rocks back and forth on the pause.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

The Ned rig’s reputation for earning the tough bites in challenging conditions has made it a must-have for northern smallmouth, as well as pressured largemouth. Thanks to that silicone skirt, the Finesse TRD jig presents a fuller profile, while adding subtle movement to the overall image. Also, broadening the look beyond the standard Finesse TRD stick worm, anglers can customize the jig’s appearance with trailer options such as a TRD BugZ (creature bait), TRD CrawZ, TRD GobyZ or TRD TubeZ.
