Whitaker works ’em early

Check in with Jake Whitaker as he gets going early Day 3 of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Lake Oahe!

After two consistent days, Jake Whitaker found himself inside the Top 10 headed into Semifinal Saturday.
Whitaker hooked up with his second keeper smallmouth around, 7:40 a.m.
Whitaker had his starting spot to himself for the first half an hour, and capitalized. His third keeper entered the boat before 8 a.m.
Lowrance Active Target has played a key role in his success. He can see the smallmouth on his sonar and if they won’t bite when he drops to them, he will drift across them to coax a bite.
As the second flight ran by, Caleb Sumrall joined the party. The two have been sharing the spot all week and other competitors have taken turns as well.
Lake Oahe is famous for its world class walleye fishing. Whitaker had not caught one before today, but hooked up with a nice walleye this morning.
The two anglers landed several non-keeper smallmouth, but the bite slowed tremendously as the morning wore on.
