Pirch’s Championship Sunday pursuit

Bassmaster Elite Series veteran Clifford Pirch headed straight to the bottom of Chickamauga to pick around in the marina that had produced enough weight for the Arizona angler to make Championship Sunday.
Pirch, who sat in third place in the Progressive Angler of the Year Race at the start of Championship Sunday, was looking for bass on his forward-looking sonar.
The bass were definitely there, but Pirch said they just weren’t the right size. “I’m seeing them, but there are a lot of small ones,” he said.
2022 has been a turning point for Pirch, with a consistent season that has him sitting in the Top 3 of the Angler of the Year Race.
But Pirch is no stranger to success. He’s one of only three anglers to win the U.S. Open three times, putting in the company of fishing legend Aaron Martens.
