Martin and company battle the wind

We head out on Lake Fork for Day 1 of the Simms Bassmaster Elite and find a wad of anglers early crowded up around a point.
The first angler of the group to hook up is a local.
A decent fish goes back in the lake.
Mike Iaconelli looks on.
The Johnston brothers are in the mix here this morning.
Chris Johnston lobs a big spoon out.
Seth Feider blows by. This community hole is right off the main channel.
Cory Johnston and Scott Martin keep shifting around looking for the sweet spot.
Matt Herren comes cruising through.
Iaconelli has seen enough.
Martin sticks with it.
After finally loading up with what felt like a good bass, the fight was short lived and the bass came off.
Martin is not pleased…
… and shows us he definitely thinks it was a big one.
As Martin’s roommate Scott Canterbury comes running by…
… Martin feels him in that he’s still sitting on zero.
The wind is really picking up here on Lake Fork.
Martin swaps over to a Texas rig.
Iaconelli returns to try his luck again
Though Martin and Ike are fishing in close proximity, they’re targeting two different schools from two different direction.
A wave crashes over the bow of Martin’s boat.
The wind is blowing a sustained 15- to 20- miles per hour at this point, making it hard to keep the trolling motor in the water.
Ike battles along in the background as Martin continues to grind away.
The bilge pumps are running nearly non-stop today…
… as water continues to wash over into the boat…
… wave after wave.
Martin swaps up to a crankbait…
… hooks up…
