Lay Lake from the air

Get an eagle-eye view of the tournament waters before the 2023 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Lay Lake!

Today is Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the final day of practice for the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Lay Lake. Check out the hawk (upper left, middle of photo) that photo-bombed me from 400-feet above the surface. 
As soon as we launched the boat, I spotted the back end of Beeswax Creek, with its’ lush aquatic vegetation and a meandering channel. 
The weather is balmy with a low-pressure system setting the conditions for pop-up thunderstorms and temperatures in the low 90s. 
Here is the view of Beeswax Park, weigh-in and expo venue. 
I started at Beeswax, and moved south, stopping along the way at habitat that could be in play. A shad spawn is in full swing, and here, key areas are islands surrounded by vegetation, and the textbook shoreline areas such as riprap walls, sea walls, and isolated docks. Enjoy the tour.
