Inside Elite Boats: Jay Przekurat

Take a tour of the derby-ready rig of the five-year Elite pro.

Bassmaster Elite pro Jay Przekurat from Wisconsin started competitive angling at the high school level, then advanced to the Opens and then Elites, where he is in fifth year.
Przekurat won 2022 Bassmaster Elite Rookie of the Year, the same year he became the youngest angler to win an Elte Series tournament. The win came with the Elite’s first B.A.S.S. Century Club belt for smallmouth with a winning weight of 102 pounds, 9 ounces from the St. Lawrence River.
Przekurat has four career wins at the Elite and Opens level, with four appearances in the Bassmaster Classic and over $750.000 in earnings. He fishes from a Nitro Boats Z20 XL, which spans 20’ 2” with a beam of 7′ 10″. This gallery provides a bow-to-stern look at his derby-ready rig.
The front office features Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 16- and 12-inch chartplotters, and a Garmin Force Pro trolling motor with an array of transducers for Garmin LiveScope and the new Garmin Spy Pole Sonar. The front deck featres anti-fatigue padding.
The Force Pro features brushless power for 100 pounds of thrust, along with anchor lock and the all-in-one GT56UHD-TR transducer for 360-degree views.
This next sequence includes views of the Spy Pole components. The system includes the Spy Pole with motorized sonar control that unlocks all the features when connected to the GT360UHD transducer.
Spy Pole 360-degree scanning with OneVü sonar allowing anglers to see a bird’s-eye view of fish and structure in every direction around the boat in 2D and 3D views and then fish without having to constantly rescan.
The GT360UHD transducer. Spy Pole operates separate from the trolling motor for independent command of the 360-degree sonar. Maneuverability is by foot control, rod-mounted gesture remote or through dedicated control bar on compatible chartplotters.
Przekurat chooses to store a variety of gear in the front deck starboard storage compartment.
Here you see soft storage packs for storing Seaguar line, and Evolution Fishing Plastix Cases.
All the contents of this compartment are easily viewed and ready for immediate use.
The spacious center console is game-day ready and the location of all the tools of the trade needed for a specific lake and season on the tour.
Evolution Fishing Ballistix Tackle Trays specific to applications are lined up for easy identification.
You will frequently find the Strike King Z-Too series of soft plastics shown by Przekurat when he makes appearances in the Top Lures galleries of Elite events.
The Evolution Fishing Ballistix Tackle Trays combine durability with practicality.
Przekurat favors the overall thinness of the trays for stacking and organizing in boat storage compartments. “I can fit more boxes and bring more baits.”
On good days, and they are many, Przekurat frequently reaches for the Bubba Pro Series fish scales to weigh his fish for entry into BassTrakk.
On the console are two Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 12-inch chartplotters
The storage compartment behind the driver seat is loaded with extra soft plastics stored inside the Evolution Fishing Plasatix Case.
Behind the passenger seat is a storage compartment filled with Whitewater fishig apparel.
The rear battery compartment is filled with an array of stand-alone and phased batteries for starting the Mercury 250 Pro XS and powering the Garmin electronics. On the starboard side is a Pro-Guide 12V 100Ah Group 24 LIFePO4 Deep Cycle Battery used for cranking the outboard. A Pro-Guide PGL31M180-DP 12V 180Ah battery powers the Force trolling motor and electronics.
On the port side is the Pro-Guide PGC-21236 Multi Chemistry Charger.
The power plant on the stern features the Mercury 250 Pro XS with dual 10′ PowerPole Blade shallow water anchors.
